Stadium Resources
Other Resources Amazon.COM Stadium Books University Stadium officially seats 30,599 fans, though it can (and has) accomodate more. The first game in the stadium was played on October 1, 1966 against the Flyers of the University of Dayton. The Falcons won, 13-0.
As of 9/1/95, the Falcons are 96-45-6 at the new stadium, a .673 winning percentage.
The stadium underwent renovation in 1982, raising its seating capacity from 23,272 to its present capacity. The stadium is all bench seating, which allows for a slight increase over the stated capacity during sellout games. This was the case in 1983, when a MAC record 33,527 people watched the Falcons host archrival Toledo Rockets.
Doyt L. Perry Stadium was designed without lights, and all home games were played on Saturday afternoons from 1966 until 1989. In 1989, the athletic department planned a night game using three truck mounted light arrays in hopes of resparking interest in a then-lackluster football team. The game was a success, and Bowling Green has seen occasional night games with temporary lighting ever since.
